Gluten Free Holiday Stuffing (Inspired By Mom)

Stuffing has forever been my favourite part of any holiday meal. My mom used to make the best stuffing with sausage AND bacon, making it hearty, salty, filling, and absolutely perfect in all ways possible. We both loved stuffing so much, that sometimes she would make it on its own as a side dish during the week! We even ate it as a meal on its own sometimes haha When my mom was diagnosed with celiac disease, she missed out on a lot of the food we used to enjoy together. It took us a few years to figure it out, but once we discovered that the secret to the perfect gluten free stuffing was using bagels instead of bread,...

Roasted Balsamic Brussels Sprouts and Butternut Squash

We love Brussels sprouts, but we totally get it when people say they don’t like them. That’s probably because their Mom or Grandma overcooked them to the point of mush, didn’t season them at all, and then made a spot on their plate for these disgusting balls giving off the repulsive smell of sulphur... Add some life to your vegetables by adding some salt, fat, acid, some Nourished By Heirloom culinary seasoning(s) and BOOM you’ve got a delicious, flavourful and nutrient dense side dish. This recipe is perfect to serve as a side dish on any day of the week but especially...

Dairy Free Eggnog (with a vegan option!)

It truly is the most wonderful time of year... thanks to eggnog! Here at the Nourished By Heirloom headquarters, we seriously LOOOOOVE the nog. Every year around the Christmas holiday we make it from scratch because it's just so easy, and we always make it dairy free. The combination of coconut milk with another creamy plant based milk like cashew or oat gives it the perfect texture while not making it taste coconut-y. We felt like making our dairy free recipe even better this year, so we decided to add the Golden Hour superfood tonic to it and OH MY SWEET GOODNESS was it the best decision ever. Why not add a bit of anti-inflammatory properties and support cognitive function...

Anti-Inflammatory Candied Spiced Nuts

Candied nuts are a fave for us. We like having them in the pantry all throughout the year, but they make for a fantastic snack during cocktail hour at holiday events or something to serve on charcuterie boards, or as a garnish on salads! This recipe features our Taco culinary seasoning, showcasing fun and tasty ways you can use this seasoning in more than just tacos! The anti-inflammatory properties in these nuts come from the omega 3 fatty acids in the walnuts and chia seeds. A diet high in omega 3's is important to support joint health and our nervous system. They are such a tasty and healthy treat, making this recipe an absolute must try! Ingredients: 1/4 cup maple...

Nourishing Red Lentil Dahl

Curry is one of our favourite meals to enjoy during the colder months.  We especially love making plant based curries to cut down on the steadily increasing food costs of meat nowadays. Lentils are such a beautiful little legume. They are high in fibre and plant based protein, and contain minerals such as potassium and folate, which contribute to a healthy heart. They are also a source of iron and B vitamins! This easy and delicious recipe features our Curry seasoning, and nourishing broth from our friends at High Vibe Health. High Vibe Health is a small business in Calgary that is absolutely killin it in the nourishment sector. They create the ONLY certified organic bone broths in Alberta. These...
